PSI/Cote d’Ivoire is seeking a dynamic Reproductive Health/Family Planning Technical Advisor to support two national programs: IGNITE and a Maverick Collective project, and one international program: TRANSFORM/PHARE, which is implemented in Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Niger, and Burkina Faso. 

 

This position would be based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and report to the PSI/Cote d’Ivoire Country Representative, but would also necessitate close working relationships with the IGNITE, TRANSFORM/PHARE, and Maverick Collective project directors.

Responsibilities

Your contribution

The Reproductive Health/Family Planning Technical Advisor provides technical oversight and strategic direction for program development and implementation.  He/She collaborates with the program directors and technical staff to ensure program results are achieved.  He/She is responsible for ensuring technical compliance, adherence to quality assurance standards, and policies for FP/RH activities. 

You will work closely with the Project Directors, PSI/Washington FP/RH team, the Regional Support Staff, the Global Medical Director, and other technical departments (i.e. Marketing) to ensure program design and implementation meet PSI’s standards and follow global best practices. More specifically, you will:

  • Ensure that project deliverables are met by:
    • leading and/or being a principal contributor to strategy discussions and representing the projects at local stakeholder and donor meetings
    • providing in-country technical assistance as a dedicated and experienced RH specialist
    • launching new contraceptive methods through the IGNITE project
  • Support the PSI/Cote d’Ivoire office in strengthening PSI/CI contributions to national and global FP/RH advocacy initiatives
  • Represent PSI/CI’s FP/RH work externally as needed through partner and donor meetings, conferences, dissemination of case studies, etc.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

The basics 

  • An advanced university degree required; an MPH, or a combination of MPH and clinical degree (MD, MW, RN) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Reproductive Health/ Family Planning programs, preferably in the West and Central Africa region.
  • You have a background in clinical and/or community-based, sexual reproductive health including HIV and FP service delivery approaches, working with governments, NGOs and the private sector
  • Experience testing and adapting service delivery models and approaches to a variety of contexts and organizations
  • Experience developing reproductive health capacity at individual and organizational level.
  • Experience in managing a small team
  • You are fluent in French, and English.
  • You have excellent written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills. Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail and thorough follow-through. Must be a leader and a do-er.
  • References will be required.

What would get us excited?

 

International Field Experience. You have field experience in managing family planning and reproductive health programs in West and Central Africa.

 

Technical Expertise: You have specific experience working on family planning/reproductive health and/or social behavior change related projects.

 

Familiarity with Human-Centered Design. You have an understanding of the basic concepts of human (or user) centered design: empathy, iteration, and prototyping.


Strategic Thinker.  You can see where the reproductive health field is going in the next 5-10 years and what is needed to be a thought leader in the field.

 

Creativity. You’re able to tackle questions and problems from a different angle and are flexible in your approach.

 
Strong Communicator: You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff along a variety of learning curves and needs.
