Regional Marketing Manager, EAST AFRICA

Location: Kenya

Up to 50% regional/international travel

Reports to: Deputy Director, Global Marketing & Deputy Regional Director

We are looking for a skilled and dynamic marketing specialist to take our region’s marketing to the next level. We are seeking someone with strong core marketing skills across portfolio management, communications and marketing planning & execution. The candidate will have experience in developing marketing programs that have demonstrated success in driving behavior change and market growth. Above all, this individual will have a passionate energy for building empathy with the people we serve and leveraging this insight to design innovative solutions that are tailored to their needs.

Responsibilities

Your contribution

The Regional Marketing Manager will act as the epicenter for the diffusion and best practice implementation of world-class marketing across the region:

  • Promote the appropriate and effective use of marketing and social & behavior change methodologies to build marketing programs and drive impactful execution of marketing strategies;
  • Support country-level marketing teams in the development of marketing strategies and annual activity plans related to both products and services, ensuring alignment to global marketing strategies, donor commitments, and market conditions;
  • Champion a consumer-centric approach to all activities – supporting teams in building empathy with consumers and translating insights into effective solutions;
  • Play a key role in leading the marketing strategy for strategic regional/multi-country projects. In particular provide oversight to new business development proposals to ensure the appropriate integration of marketing concepts;
  • Provide strategic leadership for regional and global marketing initiatives in the region;
  • Contribute towards driving greater financial sustainability through supporting cost recovery initiatives and identifying opportunities for regional efficiencies;
  • Coordinate with other Global Services departments (and regional resources) including Research, Evidence and health departments to assure appropriate technical support and alignment are embedded in program and proposal development, marketing strategy and execution at the country level;
  • Be an active participant and contributor to the PSI Global Social Marketing team, providing best practice to the standardization and operationalization of improved marketing processes;
  • Work with country/regional teams to improve existing marketing talent and to hire, on-board and groom new marketing talent at the country level.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

The basics

  • 5-10 years of professional experience in marketing. Master’s degree (MBA, MPH, MSc) in marketing, business, communication, or a related field a plus;
  • Experience in developing countries and/or in the health sector strongly preferred;
  • Proven track record of effective marketing, behavior change and communications programs;
  • Experience working with human-centered design approaches and leveraging consumer insights for program design;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, able to develop strong relationships across functions, abilities and work levels;
  • Demonstrated coaching skills, with an ability to inspire, influence and motivate teams;
  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and written;
  • A self-starter – the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Someone who is proactive in looking for new opportunities;
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of time within the region;
  • Fluency in English required.

You have had great results and you have been able to create results via your vision and direction on execution. Experience in products/services that required consumer behavior change preferred.

 

Experienced marketing manager adept at using evidence to make decisions. You are familiar with human centered design and have experience with consumer segmentation.  You understand marketing strategies and processes and have a demonstrated ability to design, analyze, disseminate, and manage marketing strategies with proven results.
