    PSI seeks applicants for the position of New Business Development Associate Manager to assist in PSI’s activities in developing new business worldwide with foundations, bilateral and multilateral donors.  PSI’s NBD Department offers assistance to field-based programs when responding to the US government, DFID, KFW, Global Fund, corporate, foundation, and other donor requests for proposals.  The Department has annual fundraising goals typically in excess of $500 million. The New Business Development Associate Manager will be based in Washington, D.C., with approximately 10% overseas travel, and reports to the Senior Manager of New Business Development.

    The New Business Development Associate Manager is a demanding, challenging and exciting role, requiring a dynamic individual with strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills and a sharp focus on details.

     

    You will:

    • Support NBD Manager and Senior Manager on proposal pre-planning and capture efforts and supports the Deputy and Director as needed on strategic and departmental projects.
    • Lead small, follow on bids with significant input from NBD Manager (e.g., CDC and DoD bids)
    • Manage key aspects of proposal development by working with field and headquarters staff on program design, proposal writing and (on occasion) cost proposal development (e.g., writes Past Performance References, capacity statements, polishes CVs, scores key personnel);
    • Travel at times as part of a team to provide technical assistance to the field programs as needed for proposal development;
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of PSI’s systems for identifying, tracking, and pursuing new business opportunities, developing proposals and budgets, and managing institutional knowledge;
    • Assist with coordinating efforts between PSI and partner organizations on specific proposals;
    • Research and writing briefs for PSI staff on issues related to New Business Development 
    • (e.g. donor and partner organization profiles);
    • Liaise with PSI regional staff and platforms to prepare for upcoming proposal opportunities and other business development needs.
    • Track bids in Salesforce. Participates and writes-up mtg notes held by NBD and Senior manager on bids.
    • Send out key updates from donors
    • Submit bids developed by NBD and Senior NBD Managers

     

    What are we looking for?

    The basics:

     

    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s degree strongly (MBA, MPA, MPH) preferred;
    • 3+ years of experience related to international development; demonstrated NBD experience, ideally with either US government or Foundations strongly preferred;
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Self-starter, able to achieve results with limited supervision;
    • Knowledge of international development and health issues required;
    • Outstanding English writing skills required; all applicants must undergo a writing evaluation;
    • Developing country work experience and foreign language skills (especially French, Spanish, or Portuguese) strongly preferred.
