PSI’s Global Fundraising Department helps direct PSI’s activities in developing new business worldwide with foundations, bilateral and multilateral donors.  PSI’s NBD Department offers assistance to field-based programs when responding to the US government, DFID, KFW, Global Fund, corporate, foundation, and other donor requests for proposals.  The Department has annual fundraising goals typically in excess of $500 million. NBD also provides additional fundraising support to PSI country platforms facing funding shortfalls and increasingly will support fundraising for new health areas. The department also builds the capacity of PSI’s country platforms to prepare proposals.

PSI seeks applicants for the position of Senior Manager, Foundations (Business Development) to develop a strategic fundraising plan, identify, cultivate and build relationships with key foundations and execute proposal development to secure significant support from and strengthen partnerships with these private foundations for PSI's programs. This role will play a vital role in PSI's continued philanthropic growth by identifying, cultivating, stewarding, and expanding fruitful, long-term relationships with foundations in the United States and internationally.

Your contribution

  • Represent PSI with external audiences and facilitate and support appropriate donor interaction with program staff and senior organization leaders to position PSI for funding and increase its profile.
  • Design and implement a multi-year foundations strategy as part of the larger Global Fundraising team vision and strategy and PSI’s programs. • Coordinate report submissions processes, ensuring high-quality, timely products in compliance with donor requirements.
  • Serve as a bridge between PSI and foundations, acting as internal expert on the philanthropic landscape while also channeling foundation perspectives to PSI staff.
  • Oversee project deliverables and develop team members. Make recommendations concerning employment, termination, performance evaluations, salary actions, and other personnel actions. Measurement: You use hard evidence to make decisions and guide your work. You set clear goalposts in advance and explain clearly if you need to move them. Pragmatism: You’ll strive to deliver the best possible result with the resources available. You won’t be paralyzed by a need to make things perfect. Honesty: You own your mistakes and are open about your shortcomings – it’s the only way you’ll learn and improve. Collaboration: You’ll quickly establish a mental map of whom you can rely on for what, on your team, at headquarters, and in our country offices – if you try to do it all yourself, you won’t succeed. Trust: You accept limits to your sphere of control and give colleagues the benefit of the doubt. Commitment:  You are in it for the long-haul and want to grow with the organization, just like PSI serves its consumers and partners with host-country governments through thick and thin.
